Pantomime Update - Cinderella

Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother failed to materialise which means, sadly, we have had to abandon our plans for a Christmas pantomime.

Despite months of hard work since the turn of the year—mostly by Ian and Sue Bedford—which included the preparation of a script setting the events here in Aljezur (Baron Hardup’s Castle) and Silves (home of Cuthbert the Convivial, King of the Algarve) and the booking of an auditorium at the Bombeiro’s HQ, we have just not had the level of support and interest we needed to make the show a reality.

For instance, only two people responded to our most recent appeal for cast, production staff, costumes and scenery builders and painters.

We did say at the AGM that a number of events over the past year were not sufficiently supported or attended for us to raise sufficient funds, not just for charitable donations but also to maintain the smooth running of Amovate on a day-to-day basis.

But, although Cinderella has become a casualty we press on undaunted.

We are currently drawing up a list of events planned for next year, including our annual music festival and the St Patrick’s Day celebration.

So, we ask all of you to please keep an eye out for our announcements about these various functions and to do all you can to support them. We really do need you to be there for us.......

Annual General Meeting

The Amovate AGM was held on 16.09.09. There were three items on the agenda - a short presentation of the past years events, The Financial Accounts & election of members to the committee.

The Financial Accounts were approved & the new committee was elected. Click here for details of the new committee.

We will be drawing up a list of proposed events for next year so please let us know if you have any suggestions - contact us by phone, at the office, by email at contact-us@amovate.org or use the contact us form on this website.

The committee usually meets at least once a month. It has been decided by the committee that we will post the agenda for each meeting the week before and therefore giving our members the opportunity to add or suggest to any items on the agenda. It is also proposed to give a report of the general topics discussed at the meetings.

Pantomime - Cinderella

As you may have heard we are attempting our first Pantomime this Christmas, we are now looking for people to take part in the show and very shortly back stage helpers.

We have already received notice of people wishing to help back stage which we are thankful but now we need the Actors.

Below is a Cast List for the show and if you are interested please contact Ian Bedford on his e-mail i.mcbedford@gmail.com

Auditions will take place within the next few weeks.
It would be good if you can sing and very helpful if you speak some Portuguese although this is not essential.

The show hopefully will take place between the 14th-16th December 2009 in the Bomberos Hall Aljezur
