Objectives of the new Committee...

• To form an improved liaison with the Camara (bearing in mind Peter and Paul have already accompanied the Camara President on a tour of Vale da Telha and environs, pointing out areas of concern);
• To push harder for an improvement in the infrastructure of Vale da Telha, and to remove ‘grot spots’ and eyesores, seeking, as one example, a central point where builders will be obliged to take their rubble and rusting cement mixers;
• To seek greater consultation with the Camara regarding planning decisions which affect the Vale da Telha area.
• To press the electricity company (EDP) for a solution to the endless blackouts that have afflicted this area for years without, quite literally, anyone seeing light at the end of the tunnel!;
• To discuss with a solicitor (contact has already been made) the provision of a regular free clinic here in the Schoolhouse for members to discuss general issues on a one-to-one basis;
• To liase with a pharmacist (contact has already been made) who is offering not only to give members discount on prescriptions but to provide a home delivery service to your front door;
• To raise the profile of AMOVATE and Vale da Telha within the town of Aljezur itself;
• To provide a greater access to activities within the Schoolhouse, not just for four or five occasions a year but also for regular social gatherings;
• To ensure income is at a level to guarantee there will be no increase in membership subscriptions in the coming year;
• To provide greater access to discounts and concessions for members from local businesses, and to involve local businesses in the activities of AMOVATE wherever possible;
• To provide a large glass-fronted notice board at the front gate to keep members and the general public informed of AMOVATE’s activities and schedules;
• To provide a Suggestion Box for members in the Schoolhouse;
• To step up AMOVATE’s charitable activities and release more money for local charities, bearing in mind AMOVATE is a non-profit making organization;
• To broaden the membership base to make AMOVATE more attractive to the wide range of nationalities in the area, many of whom mistakenly believe AMOVATE exists just for the benefit of the British nationals living here;
• To provide a new-look website www.amovate.org ensuring up-to-date and important information for members is constantly available on the Internet.
• To liaise with the Bombeiros to ensure their free medical checks at the clubhouse are adhered to at the same date and time each month.
